Three more people were rewarded with N4 million by Zamfara State government after they recovered four rifles from suspected armed bandits in the state.
The state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs Alhaji Bello Dankande Gamji who gave the cash to them said three rifles were jointly recovered by two persons whose names were withheld for security reasons.
Some weeks ago, a commercial driver and 2 other persons got N 4 million reward for killing bandits and recovering their rifles.
Earlier, Governor Abdulaziz Yari announced that there would be one million naira reward for each of the civilian JTF members or any person that was able to arrest armed bandits and recover their AK47 rifle(s).
However, the state commissioner for local government said the gesture also included security operatives in the state. “Recovery of 100 rifles means reward of N100 million for any person or group of individuals,” he said.
He said three rifles were recovered by two residents in Bukkuyum local government and another one was seized by another resident in Bindin District in Maru local government after a gunman had attacked his house.
Alhaji Dankande Gamji said the state would fulfil its promise and standby its decision and urged that all hands should on deck to curtail the horrible security situation in the state.
“The state government has also promised to reward the families of those who lost their breadwinners in the fight against armed bandits, cattle rustlers and kidnappers with 50 bags of grains and N1 million each,” he added.
